I am going to be paying income tax for the first time on some small earnings I made trading EUR/USD on the Foreign Exchange. I need to know if this type of trading is considered “commodities”, subject to the 60/40 (23%) rate, or if this is considered “futures”, and therefore 35% rate.

Any rules of thumb or suggestions on how to prospect for new customers, qualify them, present to them and close business when I am selling a commodity service? Our company’s value proposition is better accuracy, speed and service. What selling techniques and tools should I be using? (ie, miniCD with services, buy prospect list, join trade organization, etc.)

Copper Commodity Option Contract Question?

dizzie386 asked:

I am new to commodities options but familiar with options on stocks. I want to buy a put option as seen herehttp://data.tradingcharts.com/futures/puts/HGU8_2008-03-05.rp.html for Sept 08 copper. I am assuming that the 240, 275, 325, and 340 are the strike prices 240 being $2.40 what I want to do is protect myself in case copper heads back down and is trading around $2.90 or so by Sept of this year. What I can’t seem to figure out is the appreciation of the option contract on stocks when options go into the money they appreciated $1.00 for every $1.00 drop. What I am asking is if I buy the Sept 08 240 contract and copper is trading at $2.90 on Sept 08 how much is the option worth I assume it is worthless do to the 240 being a strike price of $2.40.

If possible could someone recommend the best option long put play for me to purchase to protect myself “if” copper drops below the $3.00 mark by Sept. Also why are there no ITM options and all OTM options to purchase?

I received this form for an ETF DB Commodity Index. It seems to indicate that I was a “partner”. I sold the the ETF in 2009. But there seems to be some reportable capital losses and Income losses to be reported on the 2008 tax filing.
I use Sch D for my trades, but have no idea what to do with this form. Is it reportable and where? Thanks!

I wish to know more about dealing in Fo-rex (Online). I intend to use the facility provided by iForex.com through their portal. I have some knowledge in Equity trading and gained in the past but I have very limited knowledge in foreign exchange and commodity trading.

If any one of you have traded in forex and lost a lot of money your advice will really be helpful and can give me the required insight before I get into forex.

Thank you for your reading!
