Take a moment to watch this short video about commodity markets and then leave a comment.
Republicans’ reckless spending bill, HR 1, would reduce funding for the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) by a third, forcing layoffs to the watchdog that polices market manipulation by oil speculators and other abuses that drive up oil prices.

@Caleb6543 Oil supply is already high, the speculative market sets the price for oil. It fundamentally circumvents logic, because instead of the market affecting the casino, the casino is setting the policies for the market.
Thanks for posting on this, Democrats. I look forward to you all conceding to the Republicans on anything that would help this situation.
lies lies lies,,,,
hang all Speculators……

End the stupid wars, and end prohibition… Never happen.
What’s in politician’s portfolios??? Or who’s pocket are they ALL in?
$4.00 gas and the inflation it creates won’t hurt them a bit!

Dear Senate Democrats:
I’ve been watching politics extremely closely for the past 10 years or so, particularly in the past 3.
It may be time to engage in some fear-mongering. The difference is that it’d be based in TRUTH, unlike the right-wing fear-mongering, which is largely based on lies. ‘Death Panels,’ “he’s a Muslim,” for ex.
There must be a campaign that, day in and day out, educates the people about the right-wing destruction of the middle-class in this country. It’s actually scary.
Sounds like scare mongering because some bureaucrat stands to lose his cushy publicly funded job. Speculators may be driving up prices, but they are putting their money on the line to do so. If oil supply increases, they stand to lose their shirts. There is no need for central planning in a free market economy.
